So, you thought Thanksgiving was about eggnog and turkey? Well, you will be happy to hear that there are lots of skin-care hacks and tricks to try that are based on your favorite Thanksgiving food.
So, first up we have cranberries. Cranberries are a water-based fruit that have many things in common with the healing powers attributed to Aloe Vera! Cranberries contain high levels of antioxidants, which protect the body from free radicals and environmental toxins. Back in the day, the Native Americans used cranberry pastes to heal their fiercest warriors’ battle wounds, and today, cranberry-based facial masks are great for reversing mature aging and healing damaged skin.
Next up is honey and cinnamon. Both of these amazing Thanksgiving ingredients possess mind-blowing healing powers. Honey is what our dermatologists call a natural “humectant”, which basically means that it is a great natural moisturizer. Honey also has antibacterial properties that can help remove your acne just in time for the Holidays. We recommend mixing the honey with some cinnamon before applying the mask, to add soothing properties and make the skin feel both firm and soft.
Lastly, we have the pumpkin pie mask. Pumpkins have so many healing properties. Pumpkins are very high in zinc, antioxidants, and vitamins that work to protect your skin from wrinkles and age spots. All you need to do is soften some squash in a small pot of boiling water, and after it cools, mash and mix it with one raw egg. The yolk adds nourishment while the egg white provides a subtle tightening effect to sagging skin.
